BREAKING NEWS: Suspicious package found near Alpine Propane Company

A suspicious package found outside of Alpine Propane Company at 10:53 a.m. today was declared harmless at 3:00 p.m.

Captain Bruce Bowler of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said after the sheriff’s office was notified of the situation, a bomb squad was contacted and arrived at 12:45 p.m. to investigate the package.

Captain Bowler said the Rexburg Police Department was contacted and they arrived on the scene to block off the street and warn people of potential danger.

“We especially appreciate the Rexburg City Police for their help in the situation,” Captain Bowler said.

Captain Bowler said along with the Rexburg Police Department, the Madison Fire Department was contacted.

He said the package was found to not be suspicious by the bomb squad after a thorough investigation.
