LDS church donates proceeds from Meet the Mormons to American Red Cross

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated $1.8 million from the film Meet the Mormons to the American Red Cross, according to an official press release dated March 12.

After production and distribution costs, $1.8 million represented the profits from the documentary, according to the press release.

Meet the Mormons was showcased last October in more than 400 theaters in the United States and was the number one film in 100 locations, according to the press release.

The LDS church and the American Red Cross have had a cooperative relationship in relief effort since Word War I, according to the press release.
