Home Campus Preparing for Unscripted

Preparing for Unscripted

At the Hyrum Manwaring Center room 369, a group of students makes a big circle facing each other — male and female, sophomores and seniors. All of them have one common interest: improv.

Everything Unscripted pulls off is on-the-spot by performing different improv games. Unscripted is one of the many comedy groups that students can participate in on campus. Every Friday night they rehearse to prepare for their upcoming show on Feb. 8.

“We are freshening up on improv rules, building team trust and support. We are practicing the games we are going to play,” said Jamie Gilbert, a senior majoring in theatre studies and the Unscripted show manager.

During the second week of school, Gilbert held auditions to form the group. The group consists of returning members as well as new faces. One of those new faces includes Niagra Litster, a sophomore studying psychology.

“I’m really excited to be a part of the actual team and to perform and make people happy,” Litster said.

Porter Smith, a sophomore studying health psychology, is a returning member of the group. It’s his second semester performing with the group.

“I’m excited to learn the new members of the team,” Smith said. “It’s always an amazing experience to get to learn how to jive with them, which takes time to acquire when you are with new people in an improv group.”
