Two BYU-Idaho students killed in car accident

Christian Alder, a freshman studying math education, and Darin Thomas, a freshman studying business management, passed away Dec. 28 due to severe injuries sustained in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 95, according to the Idaho Statesman.

Alder and Thomas were traveling north in a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta when the vehicle  intersected into the southbound lane and collided with a semi-trailer truck. Both students were  pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Idaho Statesman.

The car accident occurred approximately six miles south of Alder and Thomas’ hometown, Weiser, according to the Idaho Statesman.

The driver of the semi-trailer truck sustained minor injuries and received no medical treatment on the scene. All subjects were said to be wearing seat belts, according to the news station KTVB.

The accident is currently under investigation, according to the Idaho Statesman.
